Our alder cones, also called Black alder cones (Botanical: Inus glutinosa) in English, were imported from Turkey. They contain lots of humic substances and tannins and are extra large. Alder cones slightly acidify the water (lower the pH value). They reduce the germ density, have an antibacterial effect and prevent fungal infections. Alder cones turn the water slightly brownish due to the tannins and tannins they contain. Thanks to their surface, they offer invertebrates a tasty feeding area made of biofilms that can be grazed.
